The clients desired a Japanese aesthetic, but the home’s architecture is more 1970′s contemporary. AND incorporated the use of Asian-inspired furnishings along with a custom-made sofa table and a Japanese fan to create a room that is elegant and inviting.
The challenge was a family room, situated off the kitchen with the pool near by — a high-use area. It is also where people tend to gather and the family spends most of their time. The use of natural cherry wood and a monochromatic palette creates a relaxing, soothing space.
The clients are avid readers with a large book collection. They also enjoy cozy evenings watching movies with their two boys. A wall unit — that is home to many books, art, and a 42″ plasma television — was custom built based on an original AND design.
The fourth interior created for this client was the a gut renovation of the original 1970′s kitchen. The design resulted in a more functional layout and a cohesive look borne out of of the clean lines and natural materials utilized in the adjoining rooms.
