Hayward Residence Design - Living Room Head on

In this living room, we created a sitting area in warm earth tones, keeping the lines of the furniture and fabrics simple and elegant, with the “Twig” sculpture and the custom rug providing the bold patterns in the space. The coffee table has steel legs and a top of figured anigre wood and the sofa is upholstered in a muted shade of mohair. Splashes of color are introduced in the rug and the pillows.
Tall sliding doors were used to separate the office from the living area. Like the windows, the sandblasted glass filters the light.
The tall narrow windows with bamboo roman shades filter sunlight into the space.
A drum light hangs from the ceiling to fill in the tall vertical space above the dining table, while the painting and the sculptural vases were selected to compliment the dark woods in the space.
The hall, painted a bright orange-red, serves as a backdrop for the custom designed shelf and the antique wheel.
In the family room, we created a two-toned, random-patterned tile surround for the existing fireplace and added new wood shelves, transforming that entire wall. Two red leather sofas and a round walnut coffee table make for a fun sitting area and the children enjoy playing in the thick shag rug with extra long fibers. Beneath the flat panel TV screen, we designed a media cabinet with sliding center doors, using two contrasting stains of vertical grain oak.
Behind the family room sofa is a console table and a breakfast table, both designed by Ohashi Design. The breakfast table was customized with a bright green stain.
